Clinton County Health District, OHIO Clinton County Remains “High” COVID Transmission County Walk-In COVID-19 Vaccinations Continue

COVID cases are increasing rapidly throughout Clinton County and the SW Ohio Region. Clinton County currently has nearly 170 known Active Cases of the virus; On June 22, there were only 30 known Active Cases. There were 71 new known cases last week.

The CDC’s COVID Data Tracker listed Clinton County as “High” again this week with a case rate of 169.18 cases per 100,000 population over a period of 7 days. CDC recommends facial coverings for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals in indoor environments in “High” transmission counties. The use of a facial covering adds another layer of protection for those not vaccinated, especially those under the age of 12 who are not yet eligible for a COVID vaccination.

Public Health officials strongly encourage COVID vaccination to reduce the threat of severe illness or death from COVID infection. Through the end of August 2021, the Clinton County Health District (CCHD) will continue hosting Walk-In Clinics for COVID vaccinations on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons between 1-4 PM. All 3 brands of COVID vaccine are available while supplies last.

Clinton County Health District, OHIO Clinton County a “High” COVID Transmission County Walk-In COVID-19 Vaccinations Continue

COVID cases are increasing rapidly throughout Clinton County and the SW Ohio Region as the highly contagious Delta variant continues its march across Ohio and the United States. Clinton County currently has over 130 known Active Cases of the virus; On June 22, there were only 30 known Active Cases.

This week, the CDC’s COVID Data Tracker listed Clinton County as “High” as the county exceeded a COVID case rate above 100 per 100,000 population over a period of 7 days. For counties that have a “High” spread of transmission, the CDC now recommends facial coverings for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals in indoor environments. This recommendation change was in response to a study of a COVID Delta variant outbreak in Massachusetts that found fully vaccinated individuals had the same amount of COVID virus in their nasal passages as unvaccinated individuals. The use of a facial covering adds another layer of protection for those not vaccinated, especially those under the age of 12 who are not yet eligible for a COVID vaccination.

As the best layer of protection, Public Health officials continue to strongly encourage COVID vaccination to reduce the threat of severe illness or death from COVID infection. Through the end of August 2021, the Clinton County Health District (CCHD) will continue hosting Walk-In Clinics for COVID vaccinations on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons between 1-4 PM. Vaccine Updates from Gov. DeWine

April 13, 2021 Press Conference with Gov. DeWine- JOHNSON & JOHNSON VACCINE UPDATE

  • Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted provided an update on Ohio's vaccination plans following this morning's decision to pause the administration of the Johnson and Johnson (Janssen) vaccine.

  • The majority of Ohio's Johnson and Johnson doses were directed to mass vaccination clinics and to 63 public and private 4-year colleges and universities, most of which have already completed their student vaccinations.

  • Of the mass vaccination clinics and college/university clinics that did plan to offer the Johnson and Johnson vaccine this week, most will proceed with their clinics by offering either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
    • A total of eight sites will not offer any vaccines this week as the health community works to recognize, report, and manage any adverse events related to the Johnson and Johnson vaccine

  • There are many other local providers with open appointments for the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Visit gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov to look for open appointments.

  • Governor DeWine, Ohio Department of Health Director Stephanie McCloud, and Ohio Department of Health Chief Medical Officer Bruce Vanderhoff, M.D., directed all Ohio vaccine providers this morning to temporarily pause using the Johnson and Johnson vaccine following a recommendation by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
    • The recommendation was made after six people who received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine experienced an extremely rare blood-clotting condition in the United States.
    • The cases have occurred in women between 18 and 48 and the reactions have taken place within 6-13 days after receiving the vaccine.

  • Approximately 6.8 million people have received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine in the U.S. 264,311 of those vaccinations were administered in Ohio.

These variants are of concern due to their increased transmissibility, or their ability to spread quickly.
