For Educators

The Clinton County Solid Waste Management District believes that the most effective way to bring about lasting, permanent changes in residents' behavior and mind-frames when it comes to recycling is to begin teaching children as early as possible.

Our Earth and all that we extract from it are limited resources—how we manage these resources today will affect future generations to come. That is why we have created a wide range of resources tailored to educating our youth. From age-appropriate, educational programs for Pre K-12 —all of which meet and reinforce Ohio Academic Content Standards in math, science and social studies — to art contests and grants we offer a broad spectrum of programs to Clinton County Educators.

Litter Clean-up Campaign

Do you love your school? Want to show it? Conducting a clean-up of a local park, school campus, or bike trail is a great way to show your community pride. The Clinton County Solid Waste Management District would like to help.  The SWMD has free litter cleanup kits available to groups interested in helping to remove litter and other debris from public grounds in communities around Clinton County.  Each kit consists of bags, gloves, safety vests, and pick-up tools.  For more information or to schedule a time to use one of these kits, please contact the CCSWMD at 382-6177.

*Volunteers needed for Litter Clean-up Campaigns – Join the effort and help us tackle litter!

Litter prevention is a big concern not only in Clinton County but also throughout the State of Ohio.  Litter has negative effects on the environment, wildlife, and community morale. Moreover, is often a drain on public resources. If you suspect someone of littering or illegally dumping materials, please note the vehicle description and license plate number and immediately contact local law enforcement.

Earth Day Poster Contest

As one of our most popular programs, this competition encourages local students in grades K-5 to create artwork depicting recycling and litter prevention programs in their communities.  Winning posters are published in a calendar, which is distributed to all classrooms in Clinton County.  (All entries must be submitted through your child’s homeroom class.)

Recycled Christmas Ornament Contest

Looking for a creative way to show your holiday spirit and care for the environment at the same time? Consider participating in our annual Recycled Christmas Ornament Contest! (Contest open to students in grades K-5. All entries must be submitted through your child’s homeroom class.)
