Building in Clinton County

Clinton County consists of 13 townships, Adams, Chester, Clark, Green, Jefferson, Liberty, Marion, Richland, Union, Vernon, Washington, Wayne and Wilson. All townships except Clark and Washington, are zoned communities and fall under Clinton County Zoning Regulations and require a zoning permit. Clark and Washington are un-zoned townships and do not have zoning regulations. When building in any township, you must obtain a building permit.

Steps for applying for permits are:

1. Apply
   • Online in Permit Portal or in person
2. Submit 
   • Building Plans
   • Site Plan (Example)
     • Buildings and setbacks
     • Owner name
     • Address 
     • Parcel ID
   • All new parcels must be recorded with the Map Office
3. Application Review by County Depts through the online portal
   • Engineer
   • Health Department
   • Map Office
   • Regional Planning 
   • Soil and Water
   • Zoning
   • Warren Co Building Department
4. Fees
   • Applied once the application and plans are approved
   • Pay online or in person; check, exact cash, or credit (3.5% processing fee) 
5. Permit is Issued
   • Permit is emailed to the applicant
   • Will be sent with approved building plans
6. Schedule 
   • Building inspections by calling our office 937-382-3335
   • Please give 24–48-hour notice for inspections
7. Check Status
   • clintonoh.portal.iworq.net
