The Clinton County Solid Waste Management District is pleased to announce that the Annual Earth Day Poster Contest was once again a success!
Educators across the county were invited to participate in December to ensure they had adequate time to incorporate environmental stewardship lessons into their educational plans as well as the time necessary for their students to work on their Earth Day/recycling themed posters. And Clinton County educators once again proved why they are the best! Despite the uncertainty of ever-shifting COVID-19 protocols and a patchwork of in-classroom, hybrid and remote learners, our educators submitted nearly 90 entries representing as many classrooms across the county!
The Clinton County Commissioners then had the unenviable task of selecting posters from this pool of entries for inclusion in the SWMD’s Annual Educator’s Calendar, which will be distributed to every classroom in the county. The Commissioners evaluated all submissions electronically this year and the traditional display and reception in the Courthouse was forgone to respect the Great State of Ohio’s restrictions on public gatherings. In lieu of these recognitions, posters will be featured on SWMD’s website and Facebook page.
Each entrant already received various recycled content prizes for being selected by their teachers to represent their homeroom classes. Students whose posters were selected by the Board of County Commissioners for inclusion in the Annual Calendar be receiving additional prizes made from recycled materials and a copy of his/her artwork will be framed and matted for their family.
Thank you to all the students and educators who make this program a success year after year. The Earth Day Poster Contest is truly one of the best parts of our jobs here at the Solid Waste Management District. We appreciate all the thought, planning, creativity and effort put into this program from educators and students alike.
