The Clinton County Board of DD follows the philosophy set forth by the Ohio Department of DD, in a continued effort to provide comprehensive availability of responsible choices, and provide residential supports and services that allow individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities to live in the most appropriate home environment. This goal is achieved through independence and choice of the individual and/or the family in mind. The Clinton County Board of DD strives to provide various residential options to its citizens with disabilities.
Individuals may choose to live in their own homes or with family, using supports provided by the Clinton County Board of DD as well as supports provided through the Ohio Department of DD system, with an emphasis on individual choice. Residential options also include congregate care in our county’s shared service settings.
These services and supports in our community setting are arranged locally by the Clinton County Board of DD. The following examples of funding options, resources, and definitions can be of assistance in determining the appropriate residential community options for individuals.
Supported Living is a way to assist individuals with DD to live as independently as possible in their own community, with support from local and public funds. Services may be provided to the individual living alone or living in the family home. Service providers are chosen by the individual. The individual’s ISP identifies the delivery of these services and supports.
Providers of Service
A “provider” of service to persons with developmental disabilities may be either a licensed or certified provider through the Ohio Department of DD. An individual or organization may become certified to provide Medicaid and/or non-Medicaid funded services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Currently, the Ohio Department of DD has no limit to the number of providers that can be certified.
