COVID-19 Business Relief Programs

Small Business Relief Grant

  • Funded by the State of Ohio; Administered by the Ohio Development Services Agency
  • $125 million available; capped at $10,000
  • For businesses with 25 or fewer employees
  • Each business that meets the criteria and submits a complete application will be eligible for a grant of $10,000 in accordance with the following guidelines:
    • $44million of the grant funds will be set aside to ensure businesses in all 88 counties receive funding. 50 business will be funded in each county.
    • As applications are approved on a first-come, first-served basis, grants will be awarded first from each county's allocation.
    • When a county's allocation is depleted, grants will be awarded from the remainder of funding on a first-come, first-served basis regardless of the business' location in Ohio.
    • If Development does not receive eligible applications sufficient to award all 50 grants to businesses in each county within the first 21 days after the application is opened, the remaining funds allocated to that county will be available to businesses regardless of their location in Ohio.

Bar and Restaurant Assistance Fund

  • Funded by the State of Ohio; Administered by the Ohio Development Services Agency
  • $37.5 million available; capped at $2,500
  • For businesses with impacted liquor licenses
  • Applications accepted until funds are expended.

Nonprofit Grant

  • Funded by the State of Ohio; Administered by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services
  • $25 million available
  • For nonprofit agencies that serve low-income Ohioans
    • Any grants awarded may be applied to remaining unemployment charge balances and/or can serve as a refund of such charges incurred due to COVID-19. If taken as a refund, the grants may be applied toward operational expenses.
  • Applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
    • Are 501(c)(3) agencies
    • Provide direct services to low-income or at-risk Ohioans in industries outside health care, education, recreation, and/or cultural activities
    • Have reduced or stopped services due to the COVID-19 pandemic
    • Are reimbursing employers as defined by Ohio unemployment law
    • Have not already received or established their eligibility to receive additional Coronavirus Relief Fund assistance from the state or other federal CARES Act grants
    • Must disclose the amounts and use of any Coronavirus Relief Fund assistance received from local governments and any Paycheck Protection Program loans received
  • Application
    • To apply, complete the online form. Be prepared to disclose any other types of CARES Act assistance that you may have received, including any Paycheck Protection Program or Economic Injury Disaster Loans. The application provides an opportunity to explain the types and quantity of services provided and the impact that staff reductions have had on those services.

    • Interested applicants must submit a complete electronic application with all the required information by 5 p.m. on November 27, 2020.
