Education and Outreach

The Clinton County Solid Waste Management District offers a number of educational programs ranging from school and community presentations to various contests for local children. To obtain information about these programs, click on one of the specific items listed below.

• REQUEST A PRESENTATION – Schedule a FREE recycling or litter prevention presentation for your classroom, organization, or civic group.

• Bottle-Bin Recycling Container Request – Is your school or organization planning a carnival, dance, or other special event?  Well, now you can reserve up to ten Bottle-Bin recycling containers in order to promote recycling of aluminum cans and plastic bottles, while at the same time reducing your overall waste.  This program is FREE to all Clinton County schools, businesses, and other organizations.

• Earth Day Poster Contest – As one of our most popular programs, this competition encourages local students in grades K-5 to create artwork depicting recycling and litter prevention programs in their communities.  Winning posters are published in a calendar, which is distributed to all classrooms in Clinton County.  (All entries must be submitted through your child’s homeroom class.) 

• Recycled Christmas Ornament Contest – Looking for a creative way to show your holiday spirit and care for the environment at the same time?  Consider participating in our annual Recycled Christmas Ornament Contest!  (Contest open to students in grades K-5.  All entries must be submitted through your child’s homeroom class.)

• PEAR Grants – Find out more about financial support offered by the Solid Waste Management District for recycling and litter prevention programs in Clinton County schools.  These programs are available to both public and private schools, and include local preschools and colleges.
